one of my new favorite sites to waste time at...shmups! its a site for classic shoot'em-ups (shmups, duh), and i can't help but get nostalgic going thru some of the classics. and when i say classics, i mean classics of my era. i'm not talking about dinky atari or collecovision. we're in the sega genesis, snes, and dreamcast era. definitely a formative era of gaming. i was a big fan of the side-scrollers back when i had a sega genesis (1st gen too). thunderforce iii, gaiares, hellfire, and one of my all-time favorites to this day, musha, one of the best shooters...evar. i fucking hate that i sold my entire genesis collection. wtf was i thinking?!?! what makes it even more painful was that i used to enjoy taking out the box art and replacing it with my own hand-drawn versions...golden axe, altered beast, revenge of shinobi, streets of rage. god i wish i still had those. now all those memories are relegated to uploaded videos on youtube.

i'll admit, i shed a tear watching the intro and ending. *sniff*

big day today. i've waited eight years for this. eeeeeeight long years since that sad sad day in 1999 sitting in the computer lab of rand hall refreshing the browser all nite long til i gave up, went to sleep, and woke up the next morning to a new era of fail.

one thing i have been doing however for a while is getting back into anime. i was more or less out of the loop for a while...i think the last series i got was noein. but i4 sort of got me back into anime (inadvertently) when he gave me macross frontier. since then i've just been rolling thru series after series. some really good, some fucking terrible. seriously theres panty shots everywhere. apparently every single female character can only wear mini-skirts now (and in some cases, dont even wear pants)...who knew? i'll also freely admit to digging the romance comedy genre. i know, i just damned myself...

man, its been 6 years since i started blogging. and each year i progressively post less and less, whether its out of laziness, distractions, or more likely than not, the posts would be too pedantic and repetitive. my life is a revolving carousel now...woot. i thought about just throwing in the towel, but grr...then i think how nice it is that i can just peruse the journal for a log of my uninteresting life. so...meh...ill keep posting til my hands pop off.

since its a new year, ill just pretend that whatever i did between my last post and now never happened. it was admittedly a good holiday season, albeit an early one (in my mind), and it wasnt all too cheery, given the poop that is our current social climate. but its 2009 now, i should get used to that.
